In this section you will find some important information about how to get to and travel through Poland.
HOW TO GET HERE
The congress will be held in Krakow - the city in the middle-south part of Poland. The best option to get there form abroad is a plane. Try to book a direct ticket to Balice Airport (near Krakow). It should not be very difficult to do it since Krakow has dense connections with most cities of Europe.
Another option is to fly to the Okecie Airport in Warszawa (Warsaw), the capital of Poland, and then travel by train to Krakow. Use taxi to get to the main railway station from Okecie.
There are plenty of trains everyday, so you can reach Krakow easily. The train trip from Warsaw to Krakow usually takes 2.5 hours.
Transfer from Balice Airport to the city centre
You can use bus, train or taxi. The bus stop is located directly at the roundabout, in front of the passenger terminal. You can take bus 192 (ending stop: Plac Matejki near City Centre; it also stops at Cracovia Hotel, near Kijow Cinema, and at the University - Collegium Novum) or 208 (stops at Students' Town - Miasteczko Studenckie AGH, and Plac Inwalidów near City Centre).
Travel time is approximately 40 min. Ticket price for one journey is 2.50 zloty, charge for baggage is also 2.50 zloty (i.e. if you carry a piece of baggage larger than 60 x 40 x 20 cm, you need to check another 2.50 zloty ticket).
Tickets may be purchased at newspaper stands in the passenger terminal or from the driver (with an additional payment - 0,50 zloty). On working days you can also take airport shuttle XO8 (tickets sold by the driver only, price 4 zloty which includes baggage).
Congress venues
The congress will be held in the strict centre of Krakow. All hotels listed in the accommodation section of our website are within the walking distance to the centre and eo ipso to the congress venues.
WEATHER
In August weather in Poland is rather pleasant and relaxing. But sometimes temperature can drop even to 15 Celsius degrees. It may therefore be prudent to take some warm clothes.
It is also recommended to have water proof jacket, hat or umbrella in case of rain.
MONEY
An official currency in Poland is ZLOTY (PLN).
1 EUR = 3,7838 PLN
1 GBP = 5,5591 PLN
1 USD = 2,7741 PLN
Clicking www.nbp.pl you can check all current exchange rates.
MEDICAL HELP
It is advisable for all participants to have a valid insurance policy in order to receive appropriate medical help for free. Conditions of insurance and all requirements should be consulted with an insurance company.
Citizens of EU will get a free treatment also if they have with themselves a special form confirming the validity of their national medical insurance. In order to examine further conditions and requirements, participants should refer to national regulations.
EMERGENCY PHONE
During the conference participants will be able to call an emergency phone in our office to get help (e.g. in case of getting lost).
